Message from the Principal

Portrait of Michelle Hamilton, La Primaria Elementary School Principal

My name is Michelle Hamilton, and I am honored to serve as the principal of La Primaria Elementary School, home of the Lion Cubs. As we enter a new school year, I want to share how truly grateful I am to be part of such a dedicated, caring, and vibrant school community.

From the moment I joined La Primaria, I felt a strong connection to our students, families, and staff. One of the things I appreciate most is the incredible partnership between home and school—it’s clear that our families are deeply invested in their children’s success, and that shows in everything from daily attendance to parent involvement in school events.

Looking ahead to the 2025–2026 school year, I am excited to continue the momentum we built last year. We will deepen our work with PBIS and Capturing Kids’ Hearts, which help foster a culture of safety, kindness, and connection across campus.

Students will continue to earn Cub Cash for positive behavior, participate in monthly celebrations, and share affirmations that build confidence and character.

Families can look forward to schoolwide events such as Family Math Night, Unity Day, and our continued partnership with Reading Is Fundamental (RIF)—where each child receives free books to help grow a love of reading at home.

We are also proud to work towards becoming an AVID school, helping students in transitional kindergarten through third grade develop organization, goal-setting, and thinking skills that prepare them for long-term academic success.

At La Primaria, we believe in the power of relationships, high expectations, and joyful learning. Whether you're dropping your child off at the front gate, volunteering at a school event, or reading a ParentSquare update, I hope you feel the warmth and care that make our school so special. I look forward to another amazing year filled with growth, laughter, and meaningful connections.

Warmly,
Michelle Hamilton, Principal

  • Here are a few tips to help your child achieve their full potential:

    • Establish a consistent homework routine: Designate a quiet, well-lit space for homework and set a regular time for its completion.
    • Encourage reading: Read with your child daily, even for just 15-20 minutes. This helps develop vocabulary, comprehension, and a love of reading.
    • Limit screen time: Set reasonable limits on television, video games, and other electronic devices, especially during study time.
    • Celebrate effort and progress: Focus on your child's hard work and improvement, rather than just grades.
    • Ensure adequate sleep and nutrition: A well-rested and nourished child is better able to focus and learn.
    • Communicate with the teacher: Use ParentSquare to stay in regular contact with your child's teacher to discuss their progress, address any concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support their learning.
  • ParentSquare
All schools in our district use ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text, and app notifications.

ParentSquare automatically syncs with our student information system to generate an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.

ParentSquare is a safe, secure, and modern approach to communication and collaboration between school and home. Learn more and get started today by viewing our ParentSquare web page.
